Please note that the Office of Identity, Equity, and Engagement (252 Popp Martin Student Union) is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Staff also remain available via phone, email, and other virtual options from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Contact information for IEE staff can be found on our staff directory.

Our first priority is the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. Amid the updates surrounding COVID-19, we know that each of us have different and complex reactions and concerns and there is no one right way to react or feel. We encourage our campus community to stay connected to our office and their other on and off-campus resources for support.

We also know that there has been a rise in xenophobia, racism, and ableism. Our BART will still be in operation and we encourage students, faculty, and staff to continue to submit bias related incident reports as necessary.

Visit the Emergency Management website for the most up-to-date information regarding the University’s COVID-19 response.

The purpose of the Safe Zone Program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is to create an affirming and supportive campus climate through identifying and educating members of our campus community who are open to and affirming of all individuals regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.

The Safe Zone Program is an umbrella for all educational Queer programming including the Safe Zone Ally Program, & the Friendly Peer Training.
